Terms of use
Short, because there is not much to say. This is an independent reference site. The figures are estimates worked out from published pay circulars and tax tables, and your payslip is the authority on what you are paid.
What the figures are
Every number here is transcribed from a named, dated document, and every document is listed on the source register with the date it was published and the date we read it. Where we work something out, the methodology says how, and the calculators show their working line by line so you can check rather than trust.
They are still estimates. A pay scale is a national table; your pay depends on your contract, your hours, your tax code and decisions your employer makes locally. The site cannot know any of those.
What they are not
Not financial, tax, pension or legal advice. Nothing here recommends a course of action or says an option is suitable for you. Before doing something that depends on a figure — a mortgage application, a decision about hours, joining or leaving a pension scheme, a grievance about underpayment — check it against your payslip and take professional advice.
Not an official source. This site is not the NHS, the NJC, a government department or your employer, and is not endorsed by any of them. Where the figures matter, the documents linked from every page are the authority, not us.
If a figure is wrong
Tell us: hello@workterms.co.uk. Corrections are made publicly and dated in the corrections log rather than quietly edited, so you can see what changed and when. That is the whole point of the site.
To the extent the law allows, the figures are provided without warranty and Rakesh Choudhary is not liable for a decision made on one. That is not a way of dodging responsibility for accuracy — the verification machinery behind these pages exists precisely because accuracy is the product — but a national table cannot account for an individual contract.
Using the content
The underlying pay figures are public information from public documents and nobody owns them. Quote them freely. The writing, the analysis and the code are ours; if you want to reproduce a substantial part, ask, and link back where you use it.
